San Diego State beat the Lobos by 10 points in mid-January. That game was played in Albuquerque, at an arena known as "The Pit," one of the nation's most difficult places for a visiting team to play. SDSU has won 25 games this season. The team's only loss was the road game at Brigham Young University. Aztec coach Steve Fisher said his team welcomes the rematch at home.
"We are appreciative of the home court," said Fisher. "I Look forward to 12,414 (fans) to help us as we go on our quest to get another home victory."
The men's basketball team remains one of the best squads in the country. Ranked in the top 10 nationally for much of the year, the Aztecs look to add another victory tonight. A win would give the team win number 26 on the season.
Fisher said the key is to stay focused on the job at hand.
"The most important thing is making sure you don't get too far ahead of the curve," Fisher said. "You don't start thinking about the tournament, start thinking about BYU, start thinking about something other than practice today."
There are two more home games on the schedule, rematches against Brigham Young University and Colorado State. SDSU lost its only game of the season when they played the BYU Cougars in Utah in January. The Aztecs narrowly beat Colorado State on the road earlier this month. All of the remaining games at Viejas Arena are sold out.
