I, Tobiah Lee Pettus, grew up in Southern California since the age of approximately 5. Before that, I lived in Truckee, Calif.
My family would often travel to San Diego, "America's Finest City,” to visit family amd friends and to enjoy Coronado Island, Coronado Beach, Sea Port Village, La Jolla and the beaches and city in general. At that time, America's Finest City was beautiful and in great shape. The roads were new, the trash was picked up, San Diego sparkled. It wasn't hard for me to fall in love with San Diego. San Diego was "America's Finest City" and I absolutely loved it here. I loved being here. Fun, adventure, romance, beauty was and is San Diego.
It was my love for San Diego that strongly inspired me to choose Point Loma Nazarene University as my university of choice. I had a 4.0 in high school (before AP classes)... and had options. San Diego was my first choice. Point Loma Nazarene University, right in the heart of San Diego County and on the cliffs of the Pacific Ocean, had an amazingly successful pre-med program and I wanted to be a medical doctor... it was a match made in heaven. I came to San Diego.
I lived in San Diego for 4 years attending Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU 93-97). My love for San Diego and all that makes her beautiful, grand and truly "America's Finest City" only grew by leaps and bounds. I wanted to stay, live and love in San Diego.
I love San Diego and I will fight for her and for her people.
