The Chargers home game Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons will not be televised in Southern California, the team announced today.
More than 9,000 tickets were still available when the 72 hour deadline set by the NFL's blackout policy passed. That policy requires all but the most expensive club level seats be sold for the game to be shown on local television.
When a team is close to selling all the tickets, the NFL frequently extends the deadline for one day. That happened last week, and the home opening victory over the Tennessee Titans ended up being televised locally.
The Chargers ticket office will be open Friday and Saturday.
The game will be broadcast on numerous radio stations throughout Southern California.
