Gunfire and explosions have been heard in the Boston suburb of Watertown, Mass., and police have converged on the area. The events there follow the shooting death late Thursday of a campus police officer at the nearby Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The location of the activity, of course, raises the possibility that it's related to the hunt for those responsible for Monday's bombings at the Boston Marathon.
And at 3:35 a.m. ET, The Boston Globe was reporting this:
"1 Marathon bombing suspect in custody; search for another suspect still on in Watertown."
Boston's WCVB-TV was writing that:
"Explosives and guns were apparently used in an attack on police officers in Watertown early Friday morning in a chaotic scene that sources say may be linked to the Boston Marathon bombings."
