People who are homeless in downtown San Diego can get a haircut, clothing, toiletries and a turkey dinner — all for free and before Thanksgiving Day.
The nonprofit Streets of Hope is having their annual Thanksgiving Feed the Homeless event Monday.
In 2016, the nonprofit said they served over 100 meals, and this year plan to accommodate more than 150 people. Dan D'Amato, President of Streets of Hope, said providing food for those less fortunate is a community effort, put together by local volunteers.
On Monday, they will gather on 15th Street downtown from 3:30-8:30 p.m. Haircuts will start at 3:30 p.m., clothes and supplies will be handed out before dinner is served starting around 6:30 p.m.
Streets of Hope meets every Monday to offer services to the homeless, which they said includes handing out sandwiches or delivering tents to those in need.
