San Diego residents looking for the high flying theatrics and over the top flair of Mexican wrestling don't need to travel south of the border to see it.
In fact, they don't need to go any farther than Logan Heights.
A partnership between local promotions company Baja Stars USA and Logan Heights brewery Mujeres Brew House is hoping to expose the spectacle of Lucha Libre to a new generation of fans. The next event is on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
While many of the masked fighters moonlight as line cooks, construction workers or rideshare drivers, some travel across the country to dedicate themselves entirely to the sport.
San Diego Union-Tribune reporter Andrea Lopez-Villafaña joined Midday Edition on Thursday with more on the story.
A Logan Heights brewery is playing host to a regular showing of Lucha Libre - the high flying traditional sport of Mexican wrestling.
