On Tuesday, federal lawmakers heard testimony from Capitol police officers during a hearing on the Jan. 6 insurrection in Washington, D.C.

In their own words, they described how they came face to face with a violent mob of rioters subscribing to lies, conspiracy theories and white extremist ideas.

One of the people who died participating in that insurrection was Ashli Babbitt, who lived in the San Diego area. Also, found right here in San Diego, One America News Network.

Los Angeles Times Op-Ed Columnist Jean Guerrero describes the network as a hotbed of "white paranoid extremism" and "Trump propaganda" responsible for radicalizing Capitol insurrectionists. She recently wrote about how San Diego attracts and incubates white extremism while using One America News as a megaphone.

"It's essentially the epicenter of this collective delusion in which Trump won the 2020 election, which is the same delusion that led to the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6," Guerrero said. "It's also the epicenter of a collective delusion in which Latino immigrants are destroying the country and costing taxpayers billions of dollars a day which is completely false."

Guerrero joined Midday Edition on Tuesday to talk about San Diego's history with white extremism.
