The San Diego Italian Film Festival may be the new kid on the block but they have been actively bringing films to San Diego both at their festival and for single screening film events. These are films that have not played in San Diego before and are unlikely to receive any kind of release here. Their latest film event is a screening of the 2004 comedy by Davide Ferrario called "Se Devo Essere Sincera" (which translates to "If I Must Be Sincere"). The film screens Thursday, April 16 at 7:00 pm at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park (suggested donation is $5).
"Se Devo Essere Sincera" is set in Torino, and involves a teacher (played by popular television star Luciana Littizetto) and a detective (Neri Marcorè) brought together by a murder. The film follows their investigation and mixes romance, mystery and comedy as it explores relationships.
The festival's Victor Laruccia describes the organization's mission as wanting to "bring you the best of recent Italian movies along with film chats and the insights of Italians who know the films and the culture. The Festival is built on the achievements of filmmakers who have stunned the world with their art and their drive to tell beautiful stories, funny or sad, but always a delight. Come, join us in the Italian Piazza. Come for an evening and watch the stories of Italians as they are today."
