A suspected drug tunnel was discovered Tuesday morning near the Tijuana airport, Mexican federal authorities confirmed.
The tunnel is around 150 meters long, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said.
A reporter in Tijuana, Jorge Nieto, has this first-hand account of what it was like inside the tunnel:
"I just got out of the tunnel at 3:45 p.m. and my boots are still muddy," Nieto said.
"It had ventilation, electricity and was built inside a house that was under construction. The entrance to the tunnel was built inside a closet within the house and I had to use a ladder to climb down about 10 feet."
"A pit bull was there to stand guard and scare people away. The dog was rescued and nine people were arrested."
