Haggen has received bankruptcy court approval for the sale of supermarkets in San Diego and elsewhere in Southern California, many of them to the Albertsons grocery and warehouse-style Smart & Final chains, it was announced Wednesday.
Albertsons will take over former Haggen stores in Tujunga, Saugus, El Cajon, La Mesa, Rancho Bernardo and San Diego's Highland Village Place.
Smart & Final was approved to buy stores in Laguna Niguel, Diamond Bar, Burbank and San Diego's University Avenue.
Tawa Inc. bought stores in Chula Vista and San Diego's Balboa Avenue.
Sprouts Farmers Market will take over the Haggen store in Los Angeles on Venice Boulevard.
Developer Regency Centers acquired the Haggen location on Mulholland Drive in Woodland Hills.
Good Food Holdings acquired a store on San Diego's West Washington Street.
Pacific Northwest-based Haggen opened stores in Southern California in the spring and filed for bankruptcy protection in September, announcing plans to exit California.
