The San Diego Unified School Board delayed its decision on picking finalists for the district's top job. The trustees wanted more time to think.

The school board was supposed to reveal the names of the top three finalists to be the district's next superintendent on Tuesday. Instead, board president Richard Barrera canceled the news conference, saying he and his colleagues needed more time to deliberate.

The board is now expected to make a final decision on Wednesday.

Barrera says the five-member board couldn't agree.

“Each individual board member wants to carefully think about the decision we have to make. It's a big decision.”

District officials say a public forum designed to introduce the finalists to the community will go on as planned on Thursday. Parents have already received automated calls from the district encouraging them to attend.
