KPBS is in production of a multi-media project that will explore the lives of local families’ in connection with San Diego’s history. “San Diego’s DNA” is a documentary project that will focus on San Diego’s oldest traditions and culture and will rely on the submissions of local residents to tell our region’s story.
The first episode debuts the week of May 11, 2009 and takes a detailed look at the stories of Mexican Americans in San Diego. It will provide a rich tapestry of local Mexican American history from current and past generations.
The second episode debuts the week of June 22, 2009. It will look at the lives of military personnel and their families that witnessed the start of San Diego as a military town.
KPBS invites local residents to take part in this historical journey by submitting their own videos, photos, and stories to help tell San Diego’s story. Submissions can be made to KPBS. For more information send an email to
