Nearly 9,000 people are homeless in San Diego County. When we think about the causes of homelessness in our region, several topics spring to mind: unemployment, mental illness, substance abuse. But we rarely include the cross-border flux of deported and undocumented immigrants.
A forum Wednesday night at the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies at the University of San Diego will highlight the issue of homelessness on both sides of the San Diego-Tijuana border. The panel conversation is called Homelessness in San Diego...What Makes Good Neighbors?
