The bi-national band La Diabla combines traditional cumbia music with the gritty spirit of Tijuana, and they bring their bi-national dance party wherever they go. As part of the Midday Edition Summer Music Series, musicians Ivan Rodriguez, Adrian Rodriguez and Jose Bolanos stopped by the KPBS studio to share their influences and some history about cumbia music and what it's like being a cross-boarder band.

La Diabla often shares the stage with musicians from other genres from hip hop to punk rock and have built a sizable audience on both sides of the border.

The band will perform this Sunday, Sept. 1 at the Hoodstock Music Festival and Fundraiser in Barrio Logan.
