Gabrielle Giffords A Military Spouse and "Strong Advocate" for Veterans

Veterans groups and other military organizations are singing the praises today of Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords following the tragic shooting in Tuscon. Still in critical condition but expected to survive, Giffords, in addition to being a Congresswoman, is also a military spouse (seen here on the cover of Military Spouse magazine) who married U.S. Navy Captain and astronaut Mark E. Kelly in November 2007.

On the milspouse.com editor's blog read the following statement:

Meantime, today on its blog, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the country's first and largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization for veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, released the following statement in which the organization mourns all the victims of the shooting and points out that Giffords has throughout her career been a staunch ally for veterans and their families:
