General Ray Odierno, who heads up the U.S. Joint Forces Command, told the Associated Press today that the USJFC is laying off 2,300 employees. The Command's military headquarters in Virginia is slated to close by March 2012 as a means to streamline costs and save the Pentagon money as it faces budget cuts of its own. The budget of the U.S. Joint Forces Command is roughly $1 billion. The AP reports that the closure of its headquarters should save about $430 million each year.
