The military has been a part of Navy Capt. Mark Kelly's life for a quarter of a century. For 15 of those years, he worked for NASA as an astronaut. But now Kelly feels it's time to take on a new frontier - writing.
Kelly has told the Arizona Republic he's retiring from the military, and from NASA. He plans to write a book with his wife, Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Giffords has been recovering from a gunshot wound to the head she suffered at the hands of Jared Loughner in January 2010.
The book will be a memoir written primarily by Kelly and Giffords, but with the help of Wall Street Journal scribe Jeffrey Zaslow. The book will tell the story of the couple before her horrific shooting, and all that has happened since.
