Veterans to Gain 8,000 Medical Jobs Under New Plan

A new Obama administration proposal will encourage medical facilities to hire at least 8,000 veterans over the next three years. The plan doesn't require congressional approval, according to the White House.

Dr. Mary Wakefield, Health Resources and Services Administration Administrator, told reporters today:

According to the American Forces Press Service, the federal government's Health Resources and Services Administration helps support more than 8,000 community health centers in the United States. The Obama administration's initiative "challenges" these centers to hire 8,000 veterans, roughly one per center.
