The body of 20-year-old Marine Cpl. Cody B. Adler was found last Thursday in the tony San Diego enclave of La Jolla. The Marine Corps released Adler's name on Saturday, but not any details about how he died, according to City News Service.
On his Facebook page, Adler wrote that he grew up in Globe, Arizona and attended Miami High School in Miami, Arizona. He named his favorite book as "Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien. His movie tastes ranged from war flicks like Jarhead, to Disney favorites The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.
The Los Angeles Times reports Adler was small-arms technician assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at MCAS Miramar in San Diego. Adler enlisted in November of 2009, and received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, according to CNS.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is in charge of investigating Adler's death.
