Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Christopher O. Grant, 20, died October 20 while conducting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, according to the Department of Defense.
He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
Grant grew up in Richwood, Louisiana and graduated from high school there in 2012. He deployed to Afghanistan last month.
Fellow Marine Seth Mcleod wrote on Grant's Facebook page:
"Rest in Peace brother. You were a great friend an an even better Marine. Its been an honor serving with you. I know God will be honored to have such a noble hero guarding the gates of Heaven. Semper Fidelis"
