Campus Worker Caught Glimpse of Tech Gunman

Custodial worker Gene Cole encountered the shooter outside a classroom on the second floor of Norris Hall. Cole told NPR he was approaching a body lying on the floor in the hallway. But as he got close, a young man who appeared in his 20s came out of the classroom and shot five times at Cole with a handgun.

"I felt the bullets going by me," Cole told NPR's Robert Siegel.

Still, Cole managed to run away without getting hurt. He echoed other witnesses' reports that the gunman looked Asian. Cole said that he did not hear any screams coming from inside the classroom.
