Quarterback Bret Favre was back on familiar turf in Lambeau Field in Green Bay Sunday. But after 16 years with the Packers, Favre returned wearing white and purple — and throwing passes for the Minnesota Vikings, including four touchdown passes.
The Vikings downed the Packers, 38-26. After the game, Favre was greeted by some of his old teammates. But many Green Bay fans were less cordial. One wore an old Favre No. 4 jersey with the word "Judas" stenciled across it; another held a sign reading, "Halloween is over, take off that purple costume."
Vikings rookie Percy Harvin also had a hand in Favre beating his old team for the second time this season: In addition to returning five kicks for 175 yards, Harvin had 84 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Favre's replacement in Green Bay, was repeatedly harassed by the Vikings defense. Still, he finished with three touchdown passes as the Packers tried to mount a late comeback.
With the victory, Minnesota improved its record to 7-1; the team is in first place in the NFC North. At 4-3, the Packers are tied with Chicago for second place in the division.
