California State lawmakers took time Monday to reflect on the death of Osama Bin Laden. Republican Assemblyman Paul Cook was a Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps and said he was proud of the troops who carried out the dangerous mission.
“When you go through an operation like this it’s not just dangerous, but it is the emotions, the adrenaline and everything like that,” Cook said. “There’s so many ways that it can go wrong and to do it right I think all Americans I think are very, very happy and it’s kind of like, finally, we got the number one enemy of the world if not just the United States.”
State Senators also remembered soldiers who have died in the war on terror and victims of the 9-11 attacks in their prayer before session.
Other state lawmakers called bin Laden’s death a great relief.
So far, security at the Capitol remains unchanged.
