A San Diego woman has admitted she sent money and recruits to the Somali terrorist group al-Shabab.
Nima Yusuf acknowledged working with three men from Minnesota, one of whose recruits carried out a suicide attack for al-Shabab.
Yusuf pleaded guilty in federal court today to sending $1,450 to three Minnesota men who left the U.S. to fight for al-Shabab in Somalia. She also admitted to agreeing to help the three men recruit fighters for al-Shabab.
The 25-year-old said she did this despite knowing the U.S. had classified al-Shabab as a terrorist group, a designation that made it illegal to send money to the organization.
Yusuf is one of three San Diego residents accused of helping al-Shabab. She is scheduled to be sentenced in February, and faces a possible 15 years in prison.
