Autopsies were pending today to determine the cause of death of a woman and two children found inside a Paradise Hills home, a San Diego police homicide lieutenant said.
A family member called police at 5:50 p.m. Sunday requesting a welfare check because they were unable to contact family members at the home in the 2400 block of Luther Street, said Lt. Ernie Herbert in the San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit.
"Upon arrival, officers discovered a 55-year-old man inside the home in need of medical attention. Paramedics arrived and transported the man to a local hospital,'' Herbert said. "The officers also found a 33-year-old female, a 3-year-old female and a 7-month-old male deceased inside the living room of the home.''
What the man's relationship is to the deceased and how he was injured were not disclosed by police.
The victims have been identified, but their names are being withheld pending family notification.
"The motive for the crime is not known and a suspect has not been identified,'' said Herbert.
Detectives and forensic specialists were processing the scene for evidence and working to identify and interview witnesses, he said.
