The U.S. Coast Guard says $122 million worth of cocaine seized in nine operations off Central America has been brought to San Diego.
The cocaine -- nearly four tons -- was unloaded from a U.S. Navy frigate this week to be used as evidence.
A Coast Guard statement says seizures between late October and late January in international waters included interdictions off Guatemala, Panama and Colombia. The Coast Guard law enforcement teams operated from U.S. and Canadian vessels.
In one incident, a marksman on a Coast Guard helicopter fired shots that disabled the engine of a fleeing vessel near the El Salvador-Guatemala border.
Another Coast Guard marksman shot out the engines of a fleeing Ecuadorean vessel northeast of the Galapagos Islands in December.
