Meetings at which the public can give input on designs of future murals at Lindbergh Field will be hosted by the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority Friday and Saturday.
The public will be able to talk with artist Jari "Werc" Alvarez about their ideas for art that will appear on the east face of the Commuter Terminal.
Alvarez has an agreement with the Airport Authority to produce three murals for the side of the building, highly visible to people driving to the airport from downtown San Diego. Each work will be displayed for three to five years.
His first piece, "SAN," is a depiction of the golden age of aviation that went up in March, replacing a huge portrait of aviation pioneer Charles Lindbergh that was displayed for many years.
Friday's meeting, at 9 a.m. at the Commuter Terminal, is to take suggestions on his second and third murals. The public is invited, and people with aviation or aeronautical experience are especially encouraged to attend, according to airport officials.
Saturday at 2 p.m., 15 teens involved in the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego's Teen Advisory Group will hold a similar meeting. They also will produce a small mural that will be displayed on the Youth Art Wall of Terminal 2 East, according to the Airport Authority.
