In this talk, Kara West, a librarian managing the material library for one of the world’s largest architecture and design firms, will share how these unique libraries support designers and architects in exploring building materials—allowing them to see, touch, and understand their properties and applications. A selection of innovative and sustainable materials, including textiles, tiles, and solid surfaces, will be available to browse during the event. About Kara West Kara West is the Resource Librarian and a Senior Associate at Gensler San Diego, where she oversees the design library and serves on the firm’s core leadership team for Resource Directors. A champion of Gensler’s Product Sustainability (GPS) Standards, she leads firmwide training and oversees material vetting for flooring categories. Kara holds an M.A. in Library and Information Science from San José State University and a B.A. in Art History from UC Santa Cruz.   • The Frontwave Foundation will host its upcoming Charity Golf Tournament, bringing together community members, local businesses, and golf enthusiasts for a day of friendly competition while supporting a meaningful cause. The tournament will offer participants a great golf experience while supporting the Foundation’s mission to make a meaningful difference in the communities it serves. The event will take place on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Emerald Isle Golf Course in Oceanside. Registration will open at 9 a.m. followed by a Shotgun Start at 11 a.m. Proceeds from the tournament will directly support the Frontwave Foundation’s Summer Backpack Drive, which will provide school backpacks and essential supplies to foster children in our community. The event is part of Frontwave’s Give360 initiative, which supports local causes, community connection, and neighborhood impact.   The event will include a full day on the course, on-course contests, raffle opportunities, and a post-tournament gathering. There will also be a silent auction and opportunities to take photos with the mascots from San Diego Strikeforce and the San Diego Clippers. Golfers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. Participants can register to play as an individual player or bring a foursome. There are also opportunities for the community to get involved through sponsorships, which will include exclusive signage opportunities.
