  • "A Must See!" – BroadwayWorld “The show is so moving it suspends us in belief she is still with us” – DC Theater Arts Written by multiple-Tony Award®-winning playwright Rupert Holmes Starring Michelle Azar as Ruth Bader Ginsburg Directed by: Laley Lippard Over the course of ninety fascinating and often funny minutes, the play presents an intimate portrayal of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a true American original. Holmes invites the audience into the intimacy of RGB’s life and her many trials: Losing her mother the day before she graduated as valedictorian of her Brooklyn high school, being one of only nine young women studying law at Harvard while also raising a daughter and helping her husband battle cancer, fighting for women's rights in the nineteen-seventies before condescending all-male courts...and taking courageous stands for human rights as a voice of reason amid a splintering and increasingly politicized Supreme Court. David Taylor of Dan’s Paper said of this production, “…a powerful teaching tool and an intellectually enriching production for the whole family.” “A uniquely intimate experience that’s absolutely worth exploring”, he continued. An evening with a great and compassionate icon of straight-thinking American justice emerges - an RBG who is not only “notorious” but victorious as she takes a stand for ordinary people facing the many challenges of a changing world. Holmes brilliantly captures RBG’s compelling life leaving no wonder why she became a cross-generational role model inspiring tens of millions of Americans and a world-wide following. • “Common Ground: A Convergence on Abstraction” is on display at Village Arts Outreach (Gallery 21) from February 24 – March 9 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily, or by private appointment. A free public Opening Reception will be held Saturday, February 28, from 12 – 3 p.m. The “Common Ground” exhibition showcases the highly acclaimed work of San Diego artists Lucas Smith, Anuj "AJ" Jenveja, and Priyanka Pathak in a curated group exhibition at Village Arts Outreach (aka Gallery 21) in Spanish Village, Balboa Park. The artists present abstraction as a shared visual language, while approaching the act of creation from their unique perspectives, the three foster a convergence within their work through layered compositions, spatial awareness, and a balance between control and intuition. “Viewers will see how color and texture play a central role in our individual paintings, which share the qualities of being tactile, responsive, and deeply rooted in process,” explained Lucas. By presenting these artists together, the works collectively illuminate how abstraction can bridge differences, revealing the ties that connect us all. “We are deeply invested in our unifying theme,” said AJ, “so much that we will be inaugurating our exhibit by unveiling a new collaborative painting on the first day”. “I believe our guests will enjoy witnessing what makes each of our styles distinct, and also how we see ourselves in each other,” added Priyanka. For decades, Village Arts Outreach has served as a vital artistic outreach program at Spanish Village in Balboa Park, providing thousands of local emerging and professional artists with the opportunity to display their work in its welcoming and professional exhibition space. The gallery is within Spanish Village at 1770 Village Place, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA 92101. Art enthusiasts will not want to miss this opportunity to engage with and hear from the artists firsthand about the vision and techniques behind this new body of work. @lucassmithart @ajfineartist @ljbfstudio

  • Join us for a special joint lecture with Marianela de la Hoz and Marc Urselli, currently featured in "Palpitations" at The San Diego Museum of Art, as they explore the powerful intersection of visual art and sound. In this immersive exhibition, de la Hoz’s psychologically charged imagery—rendered directly onto speaker cones—forms the conceptual and visual core of the installation, while Urselli’s original sound compositions activate the works through vibration and resonance, creating a multi-sensory experience that engages themes of memory, identity, duality, and the visceral rhythm of the human heartbeat. A three-time Grammy Award–winning and seven-time Grammy-nominated audio engineer and composer, Urselli brings his celebrated expertise to a dialogue that is equally shaped by de la Hoz’s distinctive visual language and narrative depth. This conversation offers a rare opportunity to hear both artists discuss their creative processes and the dynamic exchange that defines this innovative collaboration.
