  • A delightfully witty valentine to the Golden Age of musicals, "The Drowsy Chaperone" bursts to life when a lonely theatre fan drops the needle on his favorite record and a musical extravaganza springs to life before his eyes! Dazzling dance numbers, bumbling gangsters, and a boozy chaperone fill the stage in this laugh-out-loud celebration of musical comedy. With terrific tunes, clever dialog, and irresistible charm, "The Drowsy Chaperone" is both a parody and a tribute to the joy of Broadway itself. Vivi has been an artist for most of her life and loves to put beauty on canvas, with vibrant colors, to inspire everyone that sees her work. The ocean has been one of her most inspiring subjects to paint, as well as colorful flowers in open fields and neighborhood gardens. Having studied under various art instructors has helped her to develop her very own style to create a variety of artwork. Many of her paintings come from local beaches as well as the rugged coast of the Carmel area, including the Asilomar Coast. She studied for four years under Ron DiCianni, a very well-known artist. • A powerful literary milestone arrives at KPBS. On Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025, Latina writers and readers will gather for the first Latina Authors Book Fair & Showcase — a cultural celebration created by Latinas, for Latinas. The event highlights recently published Latina authors who will be selling their books, sharing their journeys, and showing others how to publish their own. In a publishing industry where Latinas/os represent only 8% of all published authors in the United States, this event aims to break barriers, expand representation, and open the door for future writers who deserve to be seen and heard. Quote from Elsa Sevilla “When we write, we reclaim history, honor ourselves and our communities, and create space for the next generation to be seen. Our stories empower us — they are vital. This book fair is more than an event; it’s a movement to lift our voices and ignite new ones.” Quote from Erica Alfaro “For many of us, writing is an act of courage. As Latinas, we turn our struggles, our dreams, and our resilience into pages that heal and empower. Sharing our books is how we remind every woman that her story matters — and deserves to be published.” Attendees will: • Meet Latina authors and purchase their books • Learn how they wrote, published, and promoted their work • Ask questions during an interactive panel and Q&A session • Access Two FREE Webinars: Media Training with Elsa & Storytelling with Erica — (for attendees only) As the first Latina Authors Book Fair at KPBS/SDSU, this is a rare opportunity to join a literary space built for the community, by the community. Space is limited. Event: Latina Authors Book Fair & Showcase Date: Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025 Check-in: 6 p.m. Location: KPBS Conrad Prebys Media Complex, SDSU Parking: Included Food and beverages: Light refreshments provided
