Very little equipment is necessary to play bowls, making it an accessible sport for all demographics. Liza’s grandmother, Granny Pearl, encourages Liza to journey to California and show the world what she can do. Liza fixes her dreams to the wind, her gaze to the horizon, and her heart to the West – and runs away from home. On her journey, she learns that her brothers were captured by a debauched Desperado, Dirty Davey. She befriends a quack doctor, Doc Parsons, to help her rescue her brothers.
