Our rescue is dedicated to giving dogs—abuse survivors who’ve endured unimaginable hardship—a second chance at life. These incredible dogs, many living with disabilities caused by their injuries, continue to inspire us with their strength, resilience, and unconditional love. The animals frequently visit elementary schools to teach children about kindness to animals, as well as being regular visitors to elderly homes to brighten the days of the residents. Come • Sit • Heal is a heartfelt therapy program where you spend quiet, restorative time with 16 disabled dogs—each an abuse survivor—whose resilience and unconditional love help people find peace, perspective, and healing. The Elizabeth Hospice invites the community to attend a heartfelt and vibrant Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration and potluck on Saturday, November 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Mission Valley (exact address provided upon registration). Guests are invited to help decorate a community ofrenda as we honor the lives of family and loved ones who have passed. The day will include a potluck meal, storytelling, hands-on crafts for all ages, and a cacao ceremony with Nayelin Almonte. Bring a dish to share, a photo or small item for the ofrenda, and your stories. All are welcome to take part in this beautiful celebration of memory, connection, and culture. Yiddish Classes for Absolute Beginners 2 Basic Grammar and Conversation NEW! 8-Session Yiddish Course This course is perfect for those who have completed the course Yiddish for Absolute Beginners, as well as others who can already read the Yiddish Alef-Beys and have had around 10 hours of prior instruction (about A1.1 level). Among other things, students will learn to write in Yiddish, practice introducing themselves and using everyday greetings, and become familiar with common verbs. While the main emphasis is on consolidating elementary grammar, the course also employs a multimedia approach to introduce students to Yiddish culture, literature, and music through short texts, audiovisual materials, and guided exercises.
