ArtReach's Art Camp is a dynamic, creativity-filled program led by the Studio Programs Team. Designed for elementary-aged students, each camp explores a unique theme through hands-on art projects, collaborative activities, and playful learning. Campers engage in daily lessons inspired by contemporary artists, outdoor play, meditation, and an end-of-camp art show that celebrates their work. Held in our studio space, our camp fosters imagination, confidence, and connection, while promoting ArtReach’s mission to make visual arts education accessible to all youth. Our teaching staff play a vital role in creating a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment where every camper can thrive. We understand that plans can change. To best accommodate all families while ensuring we can continue to offer high-quality programming, our cancellation policy is as follows: - 30 days or more before the start date of the camp week: Eligible for a full refund minus a $40 cancellation fee *or* a full camp credit can be provided as a voucher for future classes. - Less than 30 days before the start of the camp week: No refunds or vouchers will be issued. Sunday, October 26, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. All ages are welcome! Join us for a hands-on, family-friendly workshop in preparation for Día de los Muertos. In this session, you will create personalized memorial shadow boxes—miniature shrines built inside upcycled wooden cigar boxes—to honor and remember a loved one or pet who has passed. Using photocopied photos or hand-drawn portraits, along with meaningful decorations, these shadow boxes serve as heartfelt tributes that celebrate memory, legacy, and connection beyond the physical world. You will leave with a completed shrine, ready to be displayed during the Día de los Muertos festivities on November 2. You’re also invited to place your shrine on one of our community altars in either the Dorothea Laub Dance Place building or the Dorothea Laub Music & Arts Center (where we are located). If you choose to include your shrine in one of our public altars, your shrine will be available for pickup after the celebration during the week of November 3. No experience necessary. All materials included. This event is hosted by San Diego Craft Collective. The Spreckels Organ Society presents "The Phantom of the Opera in Concert," with soprano Laynee Dell and tenor Cole Tornberg, on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. The 45-minute concert version of "Phantom of the Opera" will include spectacular organ solos by San Diego Civic Organist Raul Prieto Ramirez. The program – free and open to the public – includes state-of-the-art spooky projections on the front of the Pavilion by SonderEyes, providing a unique Halloween visual experience that complements the music.
