She is the author of several books about the Arabian horse including: "The Kellogg Arabian Ranch: the First 50 Years" (1975) "The Tersk Heritage: in Recognition of the History and Future of the Arabian Horse" (co-author) (1986) "And Ride Away Singing (1989) The Romance of the Kellogg Ranch (1990)" "Gladys Brown Edwards: Artist, Scholar, Author" (2006)“ Janey” served for over twenty (20) years as Editor of the Arabian Horse World Magazine, becoming a leading voice and authority in the industry. Please join us for a tribute to this 99 year old chronicler of the Arabian horse in America. The Wieghorst Museum and the Botanical Garden are open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We are open on other days by appointment. Stand-up comic, actor, and Emmy-nominated writer Sam Jay can currently be seen as the host of HBO’s "Pause with Sam Jay," a weekly late-night series on which she also served as executive producer. Sam’s next stand up special, "Sam Jay: Salute Me or Shoot Me," will premiere on HBO on September 23. She can currently be seen in her stand out role opposite Jonah Hill, Eddie Murphy, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the Kenya Barris-directed feature film, "You People," now streaming on Netflix. She can also be seen on the Peacock series "Bust Down," which she co-created with co-stars Langston Kerman, Jak Knight, and Chris Redd. Sam is a two-time Emmy nominee and WGA award nominee for her writing on "Saturday Night Live." In 2018, she wrote for The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards and the MTV Movie & TV Awards, and in 2020 she wrote for the BET Awards. Inside SDPD is a dynamic, behind-the-scenes experience that allows community members to walk in the shoes of a police officer for just a few hours. Led by San Diego police officers, you will have the unique opportunity to participate in de-escalation, use-of-force, vehicle stops, and simulated firearms training activities. You'll also see the K9 unit in action and experience first-hand what it's like to be a cop. This educational and interactive experience is designed for all physical levels, including mobility device users. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. During Nat at Night, we're open until 10 p.m. so you can explore the Museum after hours. Enjoy access to all open exhibitions* and our rooftop deck for good views and great vibes. The rooftop is open to all visitors and serves beer, wine, non-alcoholic drinks and food from Wolf in the Woods. With bars on several floors, sip a signature cocktail as you leisurely explore the Museum. Or grab some artisan tacos, conchas or paletas, and amazing coffee drinks from The Craft Taco in our Atrium. On select dates, enjoy getting crafty with our friends from Sketchparty (usually the third Friday of the month). Admission is half-price after 5 p.m. You can buy your tickets in advance online or buy them at the door the night of.
