Alex G, stage alias of Alex Giannascoli, is a prolific singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who built his reputation combining strong melodic sensibilities with a ragged, impulsive-sounding performance style. Regarded as one of the most influential artists of his generation, the release of Alex G’s ninth studio album in 2022, "God Save the Animals," was met with critical acclaim across the board, hailed as “a tour de force” (Rolling Stone) and “his most thrilling and playful record yet” (Vanity Fair). Most recently, Alex composed the original score for the A24 film "I Saw The TV Glow," continuing his work with director Jane Schoenbrun, who he previously collaborated with on the 2021 film "We’re All Going to the World’s Fair." Everyone has a story to tell—what’s yours? The Storytellers of San Diego invite you to explore the art of sharing stories from your own life, your grandparents, your friends, or your imagination! Each workshop focuses on a different element of storytelling, helping you bring real experiences to life and connect with others through the power of story. San Diego Italian Film Festival presents: "Vermiglio", Maura Delpero’s visionary film, which won the Silver Lion at the 2024 Venice Film Festival is a singular portrait of a sprawling family, set in the small, mountainous village of Vermiglio during the waning days of WWII. It follows a series of dramatic, consequential events after the arrival of a taciturn Sicilian soldier, who hides out in town after deserting the army. There, he meets Lucia. Delpero creates a deeply personal and human tale that recalls the great neorealist movement in Italian cinema, but through Lucia’s perspective Vermiglio feels distinct and novel. Zero Waste San Diego is hosting a SD Fixit Clinic in Chula Vista at Norman Parks Senior Center. Bring your broken, non-functioning things: electronics, appliances, computers, toys, bicycles, clothes, etc. for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. We’ll provide work-space, specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your item and it’s all free, though we welcome donations to keep the movement growing!
