The La Jolla Historical Society (LJHS) invites families from across San Diego to enjoy a day of creativity and community at the launch of their new family event series, Growing Together. The inaugural event takes place on Sunday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., expanding LJHS’s popular Family Day / Play Day in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD). Families will enjoy collaborative, hands-on art making with artist and educator Emily Grenader and MCASD, circus arts and performances with Fern Street Circus, community partner booths, a taco truck and lawn games all at no cost. This event kicks off LJHS’s new Growing Together program, a free family event series featuring six collaborative programs designed to strengthen community connections. Unfurled Chula Vista is a free community art and open mic poetry event! Make your own flag, share your poetry, and experience a colorful exhibition of handmade flags created by the community for one day only. Made possible in part by the City of Chula Vista Performing and Visual Arts Grant.

A crafters day party: sustainable art workshops, connection and lots of joy A collaborative space for us to create art, trade clothes, admire slow fashion and catch a vibe. We have lots of earth loving activies to explore and nurture your playful spirit including workshops, slow fashion vendors, and upcyled themed art to inspire your furture projects. Workshops: - Learn to sew - bring a t-shirt or some other fabric (we will have some materials but will be limited ) - Screw your labubu - make your own doll - Key chains and things - Print on clothes (bring something to print on) - Wind down with a body wellness session - crafting is a low key sport Clothes Swap: Take a look into the forgotten corners of your closet and bring a few items to trade with a new friend. Please only bring clothes in good condition, that someone could appreciate wearing. Avoid bringing torn/ distressed/ stained clothes for swapping. Materials provided vs. what to bring: Provided: Sewing machines, some clothes + fabrics to sew or paint on , charm and doll making supplies. Poway Shakespeare is a new professional theatre company based in Old Poway Park. Our inaugural production, "Bards with Blades," features fast-paced Shakespearean scenes with live stage combat and will run from May 13–23 as part of the San Diego International Fringe Festival, with a special preview on May 11 in Balboa Park. Conversational Hebrew Classes are the perfect opportunity to take your Hebrew fluency to the next level. By the end of these Conversational Hebrew Classes, you will be able to hold meaningful discussions on subjects such as Israeli music, art, culture, and current events.
