Paul Simon is coming to The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park! The legendary singer-songwriter has announced plans for a US and Canada summer tour as he extends his "A Quiet Celebration Tour," following a highly successful and critically acclaimed US tour last year. The experience was so encouraging that Simon was inspired to expand and play in some of the best outdoor summer venues in North America.  The show will be in two parts, opening with the performance of the Grammy-nominated masterpiece Seven Psalms. This beautiful 33-minute continuous piece of music was heralded by the press worldwide – Variety called it "Quietly stunning...unlike any other Simon album" and Rock Cellar hailed it as “a stunning achievement from an artist with a career full of them.” After a brief intermission, the show will resume with Simon performing many of his greatest hits and many deep cuts celebrating the breadth of his career.  The tour will begin on June 4 in Palo Alto, CA with dates at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in San Diego, Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, Tanglewood in Lenox, MA, Forest Hills Stadium in Forest Hills, NY and ending at Ravinia in Highland Park, IL July 18. The band will include: Edie Brickell (vocals), Mark Stewart (guitar), Bakithi Kumalo (bass), Andy Snitzer (saxophone), Jamey Haddad (percussion), Mick Rossi (piano, keys), Gyan Riley (guitar), Matt Chamberlin (drums), Nancy Stagnitta (flute), Caleb Burhans (viola) and Eugene Friesen (cello).  Please note: This is a rental event of The Rady Shell, presented by AEG Touring / Goldenvoice. Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center is inviting the community to come kick off the holiday season and shop local vendors at the Annual Holiday Bazaar. The Holiday Bazaar will take place on Saturday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Olivewood Gardens and will feature more than 40 local vendors and Kitchenista entrepreneurs, and food for purchase prepared by our High School Culinary Program Interns. The free community event is an opportunity to discover handmade goods, holiday gifts, and treats. All proceeds will support the growth of locally owned small businesses. A variety of unique, locally made products will be available for purchase, including handmade scented soaps, candles, salsa macha, local honey, sourdough bread, tamales, jewelry, handbags, knitted wear, and much more. Kitchenista entrepreneurs will be selling artisanal breads, handcrafted jewelry, and Mexican artisan goods. A variety of seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, and ornamentals will be available for purchase to support Olivewood’s programs. Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center promotes health equity, food access, and community building. Proceeds from the Holiday Bazaar will help Olivewood continue to provide resources, programming, and nutritious food access to the community it serves.
