"Out of Line" ~ A solo exhibition at San Pasqual Wine Tasting Room and Gallery, La Mesa October 3–28, 2026. Known for her confident line work, bold color and expressive use of charcoal, Roberta Dyer turns her attention to the strong, self-assured women who have become a hallmark of her work. The exhibition features approximately 10 large-scale faces and figures, along with a selection of smaller works. A significant portion of artwork sales will benefit ArtReach San Diego, supporting visual arts education in underserved schools throughout San Diego County. Visit Julian Farm and Orchard in September and October for Harvest Fest. Our famous pumpkin patch will be in full swing. Farm activities, and food and beverage will be onsite during operating hours. Bring the whole family to Julian Farm and Orchard's Harvest Fest! Parking is free. Our overflow parking lot is open on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday and Sunday ONLY We are excited to have vendors on the farm this fall! Miss Gabby's Face Paint will also be on site! Julian Food Truck and Bev Barn are resident on site vendors. The Julian Food Truck has classic American menu items (Burgers, Corn Dogs, Fries, etc). The Bev Barn is home to our famous apple cider slushies, snow cones, cold bottled drinks, whole pies, bagged/pre-picked Julian apples, and more! Join us for an entertaining afternoon while supporting Osher's Theater World, a talented group of theater artists. Comprised of members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UC San Diego, Theater World brings engaging performances to audiences throughout the year, and your attendance helps sustain future productions and creative opportunities for lifelong learners. This event, inspired by Fran Zimmerman and directed by Herb Hein, will feature 18 songs from around the world performed by an ensemble of singers with piano, drums, guitar, and accordion. Local downtown restaurants will provide some small international delights starting at 1 p.m. There will be limited parking available at the venue for $10, but it is recommended that you take the Blue Line Trolley, which stops right across the street from the venue. You will receive a link to purchase parking in your registration confirmation email. Registration is $25 for this fundraising event and includes admission to the concert and light refreshments. It does not include parking or public transportation. Theater World brings Osher members together to explore the joy of performance through acting, directing, and storytelling. Whether discovering new talents or building on previous experience, participants develop creative skills, form lasting friendships, and enrich the Osher community by entertaining fellow members throughout the year.

Up to SPED, Inc. is a new San Diego based nonprofit offering special education information and services to families. We are hosting a Free Back-to-School Meet & Greet at the Valencia Park/Malcolm X Library. It's a family-friendly community event designed to help parents of special needs students prepare for a successful year ahead. We will have FREE Backpacks (with a sensory or fidget item inside) being distributed to attendees while supplies last. Our special education expert will present on Special Education topics including Parent Rights and the Relevant Education Statutes. Overall, it's a time to gather valuable information, guidance, and tools tailored for exceptional families and their special needs students. Families can come and connect with other families, meet with the nonprofit's founder, get answers to questions, engage with community members, and enjoy some light snacks in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Where curiosity meets discovery: a day of fun and learning for the whole family! Scripps Research invites YOU to visit our La Jolla campus, meet our scientists and experience the excitement of scientific exploration. With exciting demonstrations and hands-on science activity stations led by dozens of our graduate students and scientists from laboratories across Scripps Research, visitors can explore topics in chemistry, neuroscience, viruses and bacteria, aging and longevity, drug discovery, cancer biology, and much more. Science enthusiasts of all ages—from the very young to the young at heart—will find fun activities and moments of wonder at Scripps Research Discovery Day, from eye-popping chemistry demonstrations and the ever-popular liquid nitrogen ice cream, to microscopes offering a peek at cells and microbes, and a virtual reality exploration of the tiny world of viruses. We’ll also share the latest news about our research into new medicines that one day may provide treatments and cures for conditions that affect millions. This is a free, family-friendly event, but pre-registration is requested.

Visiting Artist Shareout: Melanie Taing Join us on Saturday, July 11 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Revision La Mesa for an afternoon of storytelling, creativity, and community with visiting artist Melanie Taing (@olliepotstudios). Melanie's work explores personal and generational healing through clay, drawing on her Cambodian, Thai, and Chinese American heritage, tea culture, herbalism, and the belief that art and community can be powerful tools for connection and care. After developing chronic migraines and other disabling health conditions in 2022, Melanie found healing and resilience through Traditional Chinese Medicine, tea-making, and ceramics, with pottery becoming a space for creativity, reflection, and restoration. From 1 p.m. – 2 p.m., Melanie will share stories about her artistic practice, cultural heritage, disability journey, and the ways creativity, community, and care have shaped her work. From 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., participants are invited to create their own ceramic coasters inspired by Melanie's signature vinyl resist technique, which she uses throughout her work, including pieces from her Amrita collection and playful pop-culture-inspired ceramics. - Open to all - Drop-in, no RSVP required - Free to try, $10 to have your piece fired At Revision, our goal is to connect and center disabled artists through storytelling, community building, and creative practice.
