TrueCare will host its annual Flourish & Nourish Health Fair on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at TrueCare’s Vista Way Health Campus, 3998 Vista Way in Oceanside. The free, family-friendly event will offer health care services, community resources, wellness activities and breast milk donation information to support North County families. The event will feature free health and dental screenings, food distribution, a backpack giveaway— with backpacks available on a first come, first served basis— to help students prepare for the new school year and a blood drive in partnership with San Diego Blood Bank. Attendees can also enjoy music from a live DJ, family-friendly activities, prize giveaways and interactive booths hosted by local organizations sharing health, wellness and family support resources. “Flourish & Nourish is about making health care and community support easier to access for local families,” said TrueCare President and CEO Michelle Gonzalez. “By bringing screenings, food resources, school supplies and trusted partners together in one place, families can take advantage of different resources to support their health and well-being.” In partnership with the University of California Health Milk Bank, the event will feature a breast milk drive to help ensure medically fragile and premature infants have access to the nourishment they need. Nursing mothers with extra breast milk are invited to enroll with the milk bank and drop off their donation at the event. There will also be opportunities for interested donors and recipients to learn more about the donor process and benefits of nutritious human donor milk. The nonprofit, The Music Company (TMC), celebrates its three-year anniversary of expanding music career pathways in San Diego with a new monthly series, Women in Music SD, supporting female artists, producers, DJs, and songwriters. Launching on Thursday, March 26 at 7 p.m., the event series will feature conversations and collaborations around navigating today’s music industry and will continue to take place on the 4th Thursday of each month in 2026. TMC’s mission is to nurture the next generation of music talent by providing vital resources that are often inaccessible to independent and emerging artists. Through affordable, professional-grade recording and rehearsal spaces, the organization fosters collaboration among musicians, producers, and industry professionals. Grownups can harness this creative thinking by giving young children the time, space and independence to try new ideas, says The National Association for the Education of Young Children. But these learning experiences are also essential for preventing the “summer slide,” or the loss of math and other academic skills over the summer when children are not in school.

The closing celebration will include a performance by Matana Roberts (UC San Diego, Department of Music) followed by a discussion with Kamaal Martin (Art Power Equity) and Mashonda Tifrere (curator, ArtLeadHer). Spanning nearly five decades of artistic production, "Full Circle—The Teachings and Her Legacy" is a comprehensive examination of Faith Ringgold’s multidisciplinary practice. The exhibition brings together works created between 1976 and 2023, tracing the artist’s evolution across painting, textile art, and narrative assemblage. Born in Harlem in 1930, Ringgold emerged from the Black Arts Movement as a visionary force, boldly weaving autobiography, social and political activism, and deep reverence for her ancestors into every layer of her work. The exhibition is framed conceptually through Ringgold’s relationship to UC San Diego, where she served as professor of visual arts from 1984 to 2002. This institutional affiliation provides a lens for understanding how her academic philosophy materialized throughout her practice and impacted not only those she mentored at UC San Diego, but generations of artists around the world. Dye with Fresh Indigo Natural Dye in Bonita! Saturday, August 29, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. There are many ways of dyeing with indigo, but its magic can be experienced in its most direct way by simply using fresh indigo leaves, water, and air! This workshop is a unique opportunity to work with indigo from the “ground up” and understand the beautiful chemistry of indigo and create a beautiful silk scarf in the setting it was grown. This workshop is held at an off-site location, at the inspirational Ranchito Milkyway farm in Bonita. This class is appropriate for ages 12+ years old or 8+yrs with an accompanying adult.
