Spend a summer evening at San Diego Botanic Garden during Summer Nights on Thursday, August 6. The Yamoakas and Company trio, featuring Korrie Yamaoka, Jason Yamaoka, and Davy Rockett, weave together indie, folk, and jazz influences into a sound that draws listeners in. Inspired by the emotional storytelling of Norah Jones, the artistry of Regina Spektor, the theatrical depth of Rufus Wainwright, and the dynamic edge of Muse, their music blends warmth, nuance, and memorable melody. Admission begins at 4 p.m., with music going from 5:30 p.m.-7:15 p.m. Guests can enjoy the concert while exploring the Garden's 37-acres of lush landscapes and ocean-view pathways during extended evening hours. Come together with the community to celebrate creativity, inspiration, and joy in Oceanside/North County San Diego. Join in the fun during the 13th season of the First Friday Art Walk Oceanside from 5 to 8 pm in the heart of the Oceanside Cultural Arts District. This free, family-friendly event features over 60 local artists, makers, and creatives showcasing unique, handmade work in Artist Alley and the Civic Center Library Plaza, along with live music throughout the evening. Continuing into its second year, the After Art Party occurs from 8 to 9 pm with a live musical performance on the Civic Center Library Courtyard stage. In conjunction with the Art Walk, the Oceanside Museum of Art will offer free admission from 5 to 8 PM, including a docent-led tour at 6 PM and a cash bar with beer and wine. The First Friday Art Walk Oceanside is supported by the Oceanside Cultural Arts District, via funding by the California Arts Council, which is overseen by the Oceanside Public Library and Cultural Arts Department and takes place on the first Friday of each month from May through September, with a special holiday event each December. Lace up your running shoes and get ready to hit the boardwalk! Belmont Park’s Dipper Dash 5K presented by Fit returns to Mission Beach on Sunday, September 20, bringing together fitness, family fun, rescue pups and a full day at San Diego’s iconic beachfront amusement park. The morning kicks off at 8 a.m. with the Dipper Dash 5K, a chip-timed race that starts in the heart of Belmont Park before taking runners along the scenic Mission Beach Boardwalk and back to the park. At 9 a.m., the park’s youngest runners can get in on the fun with the Kids Loop, a safe, kid-friendly course held entirely within Belmont Park and designed for children ages 10 and under. And the fun doesn’t stop at the finish line! Every registered participant receives an Unlimited Ride & Play Wristband for all-day access to Belmont Park’s rides and attractions, along with a custom finisher medal, complimentary drink ticket and free event photography. Runners can celebrate afterward at Fit Social’s oceanfront after-party, featuring live DJs, wellness experiences, cold plunges and local vendors. This year’s Dipper Dash will also support The Animal Pad, a San Diego-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing dogs from high-risk situations and finding them loving homes. The Animal Pad will be onsite with adoptable rescue dogs, giving participants the chance to meet some four-legged friends while learning more about fostering and adoption.
