Protesters rally in Oceanside against ICE enforcement tactics

Protests against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) continue across the country, including here in San Diego County.

One Wednesday, a few people gathered in Oceanside to speak out against tactics used by ICE and Border Patrol.

They were responding to what protestors say is escalating violence from federal immigration officers, including the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.

“What we saw in both of those, immediately the administration vilified the victim, justifies the actions. And yet as we watch the videos they don't go together," protest organizer Larry Warner said. "So there's been this ongoing lack of accountability and transparency with the actions of ICE. ”

He said there's been widespread fear and anger over ICE enforcement across the country.

Warner said he has some hope that things could change. He pointed to news that the two officers involved in Alex Pretti’s shooting have been put on administrative leave and Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino is no longer leading enforcement efforts in Minnesota.
