On March 15, Gaylord Entertainment unveiled artist's renderings for a hotel and a 400,000 square-foot convention center on the Chula Vista bayfront -- a configuration negotiated for over a year between city officials and the SD Port Commission. When Port officials discovered Gaylord had added 150,000 square feet to the meeting space without running it by the port or the citizens' advisory committee, they chewed the developer out at a May 8 public meeting. Gaylord described the situation as a “miscommunication” and apologized.
