Additional San Diegans could be charged with raising money for the Somali Islamist terror group al-Shabab.
The warrant for Basaaly Moalin’s apartment disclosed that he along with Mohamed Mohamud and Issa Doreh had co-conspirators in their alleged financial and material support for al-Shabab.
According to the warrant, investigators have identified some of the perhaps 30 co-conspirators but others remain unknown. There could be up to 30 co-conspirators.
“I wouldn’t doubt that more indictments are coming of some number of people now of course some of the those 20 or 30 people the prosecutors will be looking to flip them and potentially turn them into witnesses," said Seth Stodder, lecturer of counter-terrorism law at the University of Southern California.
Meanwhile, a court hearing is scheduled this morning to determine whether Moalin, Mohamud and Doreh qualify for bail.
