San Diego travelers can take advantage of a new non-stop international flight between San Diego and Vancouver Canada. KPBS Reporter Erik Anderson has details.
San Diego Airport authority officials say Air Canada is offering one direct international flight a day to Vancouver British Columbia. Authority spokesman Steve Schultz says the service officially started on Saturday.
Schultz: "There are approximately 80,000 passengers flying between San Diego and Vancouver annually. And about 245,000 between San Diego and Canada annually."
Shultz says the service is especially timely because ski season just opened. He says, however, that there's more to the service than tourism. He says the Vancouver to San Diego connection will help foster links between both city's biotechnology and wireless communication industries.
