One hundred years ago this morning, shortly after five o'clock, a major earthquake shook San Francisco. The strong shaking and shocks lasted from 45 to 60 seconds. The Great 1906 San Francisco Earthquake was felt from southern Oregon to south of Los Angeles and inland as far as central Nevada. KPBS reporter Ed Joyce spoke with Dr. Pat Abbott, Emeritus Professor of Geological Sciences at San Diego State University, who describes what our region looked like at the time of the great quake.
