More than 800 North County students still need to pass California's high school exit exam to graduate this June. A sizable portion of those high school seniors attend Vista Unified School District. KPBS reporter Ana Tintocalis has more.

About 150 seniors in the district have not passed the exam. Those students will not receive a high school diploma if they fail again. Students have a final chance to take the exit exam next week. District official Katie Langford says students are putting in extra hours to prep for another round of testing.

Langford: "We have some computer programs some students are working on. We have classes within the regular school day that they're enrolled in. We also have afterschool opportunities for them. So there are a variety of ways that they're getting extra support."

Langford says students who have failed the test but satisfied other graduation requirements will still be allowed to participate in graduation ceremonies. Ana Tintocalis, KPBS News.
