The top vote-getters in San Diego's school board and community college district races will face a runoff election in November. KPBS Reporter Ana Tintocalis has more.
In the San Diego Unified School District, current school board member Katherine Nakamura with face off with Micheal McSweeney. Nakamura has served on the board for three years and clinched 40 percent of the vote.
McSweeney who is a construction contractor received 32 percent. San Diego's city charter dictates a runoff election in November for the top two candidates in the primary.
Meanwhile, in San Diego's Community College District, two seats are still open. Maria Nieto Senour is seeking a fifth term and faces teacher-columnist Daniel Smiechowski. Teacher and hotel owner Rich Grosch faces credit union manager Andy Hollingsworth. Ana Tintocalis, KPBS News.
