A new research study finds that children who are overweight at any stage of their growth before age 12 are more likely to be overweight and possibly even obese by age 12. The study tracked the growth of more than 1,000 children from 10 U.S. cities born in 1991. Host Gloria Penner talks with the UCSD researcher who led the federal study about why the study was conducted and how this information can be used by pediatricians and parents. We’ll also talk to a school nurse who helps schools and parents find ways to fight the bulge.
