Voter Complaints Isolated, Officials Say

San Diego county election officials say voting has gone pretty smoothly today. Problems were isolated, they say.

San Diego county election officials say voting has gone pretty smoothly today. County spokesman Mike Workman says there were glitches that kept some polling stations from opening on time.  He says, however, all 16,050 polling places were up and running by 7:30 a.m. He says the electronic voting machines were the source of some isolated problems.

Workman: 10 o’clock this morning we got a call from a polling station and they said, "We don’t know what’s going on.  Our machines are going down one at a time.  What’s happening?"  So the trouble shooter talked to them a little bit and we figured out that they got em all set up and everything was good, the got the paper going. They forgot to plug them in so they’ve been running off batteries since 7 a.m.

Workman says there were no systemic problems. He says paper ballots were available at all polling stations. Even so, there were isolated complaints. They ranged from broken seals on voting machines to voter harassment.
