Tom Fudge: The effort to solve global warming can be an exercise in frustration. Because any effort to reduce carbon emissions, short of massive global cooperation, seems like a drop in the bucket. But that hasn't stopped Ron Sims from doing everything he can in his small corner of the globe.
Ron Sims is the executive of King County, Washington. That's the county that contains Seattle. And he's been a model of local activism when it comes to creating programs to reduce global warming. Last year, he was honored by the Sierra Club with its Edgar Wayburn Award for outstanding service to the environment.
Ron Sims will speak tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the San Diego Natural History Museum as part of the "Global Climate Change: Perspectives and Solutions" lecture series. The event is open to the public.
